Here’s What You’ll Love About This Sauce

If you’re a fan of Greek yogurt and creamy sauces, you’ll love this mint yogurt sauce. It’s cooling, bright, fresh, and tangy, which makes it perfect for grilled chicken. Especially skewers! It’s less fussy than homemade tzatziki, too. Just stir everything into a bowl, let it sit for half hour, and have at it.

Ingredients

  • Full fat plain Greek yogurt.
  • Fresh mint leaves. If for some reason you stumbled upon this recipe and aren’t keen on mint, you can use fresh parsley instead. It’ll still be fresh and wonderful!
  • Garlic.
  • Lemon.
  • Ground cumin.
  • Cayenne. This adds a nice little kick, but you can sip it if heat isn’t your thing.
  • Salt & pepper.
Bowl of Greek yogurt next to other ingredients (fresh mint, garlic, spices, and lemon).

How to Serve Yogurt Sauce for Chicken

Don’t feel like you’re limited to chicken, however. This would be fantastic on a salmon burger or served with roasted potatoes. Whatever you want!

Storage

  • Mint yogurt sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 days. The shorter lifespan is due to the raw garlic, which is a bit of a debate in the culinary world as some say it shouldn’t be eaten after a day since it becomes acrid. But I’ve survived playing by the 3 day rule!

  5. Thank you for sharing this recipe Dana. I’m planning on making mujadara later this week, do you think a dollop of your sauce (which seems rather thick) would work well as a topping? I was thinking of either your sauce or tahini.

    What do you think?

    Have a wonderful day.

    1. Hi Dimitri! Mujadara tends to be served with yogurt, so this would work wonderfully! Please let me know if you try it :)
Hope you have a great week!
