A quick weeknight meal doesn’t have to mean throwing random things in a pan and hoping for the best. This beef stir fry with Ramen noodles is fast, flavorful, and coated in a light, savory sauce that makes it feel like an actual dinner you meant to make. It’s delicious, nourishing, and very family-friendly.

If you’re building out your stir-fry rotation, the ground turkey stir-fry with cabbage is a great next move. And for the shrimp people, this sesame shrimp stir-fry never disappoints.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • It’s healthy: You’ll get the same flavors of Chinese takeout with way less sugar and sodium.
  • It’s quick & easy: Prep is minimal and cooking time clocks in at 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Ingredients for beef stir fry with ramen noodles on a white marble background.

A full ingredient list with exact measurements is available in the recipe card below.

  • Beef: Flank steak, sirloin, or skirt steak works well for beef stir-fry. You can often find pre-sliced steak strips for stir-frying in the meat section of your local grocery store.
  • Bell pepper: I like using green bell peppers with beef since they go so well together, but if you prefer a sweeter pepper, go for a yellow, orange, or red bell pepper.

Modifications

  • Protein: This recipe would work well with chicken breast or boneless chicken thighs, shrimp, or even tofu! Cooking times will vary depending on the protein.
  • Cooking oil: For more sesame flavor, use sesame oil instead of olive oil.
  • White wine: You can swap this for mirin or, if you prefer cooking without alcohol, rice vinegar or beef broth.
  • Noodles: Ramen noodles are perfect for stir fries! But soba noodles are a fantastic alternative.

Recipe Tip

Prior to starting dinner, whisk together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with about 1/4-1/3 cup of soy sauce, then toss your beef into the mixture and let it marinate for 15 minutes. This will tenderize your beef beautifully, leaving you with the juiciest beef strips in your stir-fry.

How to Make Beef Stir Fry With Ramen Noodles

Ramen noodles being tossed with the beef and peppers.

Step 1: Toast the Sesame Seeds and Almonds

Heat a dry skillet or wok over medium-low heat. Add the sesame seeds and almonds and toast them, shaking the pan often to prevent burning. When lightly toasted and golden, remove the pan from the heat and transfer them to a small bowl; set aside

Step 2: Cook the Noodles

Boil the Ramen noodles in a pot according to the package instructions. When done, strain them and set them aside. Toss them in a little oil to keep them from sticking together.

Step 3: Sear the Beef

Add the oil to the same skillet or wok and heat it over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Add the beef strips and cook for about 2 minutes on each side—just enough to brown the exterior while keeping the center medium-rare. Transfer the beef to a plate or bowl; set aside.

Step 4: Sauté the Veggies

Add a bit more oil to the pan if necessary. Add the garlic, scallions, and bell peppers and cook until tender (about 3-5 minutes), stirring often. When tender, bring the beef back to the pan.

Step 5: Simmer the Sauce

Add the wine and soy sauce and let the liquid come to a simmer for about a minute to thicken. Stir every so often to prevent it from burning.

Step 6: Toss In the Noodles

Transfer the cooked Ramen noodles into the pan along with the toasted sesame seeds and the toasted almonds. Toss to coat, and enjoy!

Storage & Reheating

  1. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
  2. To reheat, simply place the leftovers onto a microwave-safe plate and heat in increments of 25 seconds until heated through, or toss everything into a pan and heat on the stovetop over medium-low heat until heated through.
