Asparagus is hands down one of my favourite vegetables – especially grilled! And the best part? With asparagus, the more simple the preparation, the better it tastes. I’ve had asparagus served to me drizzled with fancy sauces and spices a few times in my life, and nothing beats this recipe. Little ingredients, little time, tons of flavour.
- 1 bunch of asparagus
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 3 tsp grated parmesan cheese
After washing the asparagus, snap off the rough ends. A lot of people tend to estimate where the good part of the stalk ends and where the rough part of the stalk begins, but the best way to determine this is to let the stalk tell you itself. Just hold the stalk with both hands, and bend it until it breaks. It will naturally break in the right spot. Ain’t that somethin’?
Toss the asparagus stalks in the olive oil, sea salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese.
Wrap them in foil, and throw them on the grill (heated to medium heat). You can leave the foil closed, or open the foil to expose the stalks and move them around occasionally. It’s up to you. I like to open my foil and move the stalks around a bit to ensure I’m getting an even browning. Grill on medium for approx 12 – 15 mins.
